• Retained to complete a due diligence review of an opencut mining operation in Australia to assess the ability to provide required coal quantities and qualities to an adjacent generating station. During the course of the project, BOYD Mining Consultants Australia:
  • Visited the mine site to observe the operation and interview mine personnel.
  • Completed an overview of coal reserves and quality.
  • Reviewed existing mining operations and commented on future plans.
  • Reviewed hydrologic and geotechnical aspects of the mine plan and operation.
  
  
  
• Retained to complete a due diligence review of the coal reserves and operations of a New South Wales, Australia, company. Visited the mines to collect data and to interview management and mine personnel. Work scope included assessing:
  • Reserve quantities and qualities including parameters used for estimating the reserves.
  • Current and future mine plans and costs.
  • Mine infrastructure.
  • Operating parameters for the mine.
  • Market and transport issues.
  
  
  
• Evaluated comprehensive life-of-mine plans for a state-of-the-art longwall mine in Queensland, Australia. Compared proposed performance levels with international benchmarks of world-class longwall operations, and developed recommendations to enhance managerial systems, development operations, and longwall productivity of the future mining operations.



• Completed a performance improvement and benchmarking study of an underground mining operation in New South Wales, Australia. Visited the mine and reviewed all aspects of the operation. Conducted benchmarking studies on the longwall and development units on selected shifts. Assessed operational efficiency, maintenance procedures and managerial performance.



• Completed a technical audit of a dragline operation located in New South Wales, including operating performance. Work scope included:
  • Complete an overall mining operations overview.
  • Comment on short- and long-term mine planning requirements.
  • Review dragline application and design parameters.
  • Comment on dragline operator’s training, skills, and mining efficiency.
  • Benchmark operating parameters of the dragline with other world-class operations.
  • Comment on dragline availability and productivity.
