• Conducted an independent analysis of remaining U.S. Borax reserves at an operation in California using the Vulcan modeling software. Assignment included:
  • Development of an accurate and reliable geologic model for future mining projections.
  • Delineation of ore grade and mineralogic halos.
  • Determination of data variability and optimal drill grid selections for future development.
  
  
  
• Completed a bauxite project in Jamaica. Assisted the existing operators in reviewing consolidation of the mines. Reviewed reserves, mine plans, maintenance procedures, material handling, transportation and market issues. Visited the operations on numerous occasions to assess the mines and meet with senior management and staff.

• Completed a due diligence study of three operating underground gypsum mines in Hebei Province, People’s Republic of China. Reviewed reserve estimate, mine plans, equipment compliments, capital expenditure requirements, operating cost projections and environmental issues. All work was prepared in accordance with international (JORC) resource estimation and reporting requirements.



• Completed a study of a state-owned potash mining operation in the Ukraine. The government has mandated the company be privatized, and BOYD was retained by a US client to assess the operation and comment on acquisition potential. Assignment included a site visit to the operation in order to:
  • Collect available information on the deposit and the overall mining operation.
  • Evaluate the operation relative to reserves, production, mechanization, ore processing, potential markets, capital reconstruction, and operating costs.
  • Opine on the future economic viability of the operation and investment opportunities.
  
  
  
• Retained by a Russian client and its London-based legal counsel to prepare an independent experts report on the bauxite market. Client brokered Indian-produced bauxite to an aluminum smelter facility in the Ukraine. BOYD reviewed delivered cost and quality of the Indian bauxite as well as bauxite produced in Brazil, Australia and Guinea. Also completed a review of bauxite production costs.
