- Retained by the U.S. Bureau of Mines
(USBM) to review and collect detailed engineering, operating, and environmental
data on the Polish copper, lead, zinc, and sulfur industries. Scope
of work included the following:
- Study mining equipment at existing operations including availability
and appropriateness for existing mining conditions.
- Review existing labor requirements.
- Review corporate and division organization.
- Economic and policy data including royalties, tariffs, duties,
and local tax assessments.
- Environmental regulations.
- Health and safety issues.
- Regulatory issues.
- Government policies restricting efficient operation of the copper,
lead, zinc, and sulfur industries.
- Financial and cost analysis.
- Estimate remaining mineral reserves.
- Completed a due diligence and fatal flaw review of an operating gold mining complex in Yunnan Province, PRC for private equity lending. All work was prepared in accordance with international (JORC) resource estimation and reporting requirements.
- Completed a valuation of iron ore mines and reserves/resources in Hubei Province, PRC for use in a pending IPO filing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The project included an assessment of the geologic data and ore classification as well as an analysis of the current mining operations and future plans.
- Completed a due diligence study of an iron ore operation
in Labrador, Canada. Reviewed reserve estimate, mine plans, equipment
compliments, capital expenditure requirements, operating cost projections
and environmental issues. A review of the concentrator operations was
also completed.
- Developed an independent estimate of gold-bearing ore
reserves located in west-central Nevada and developed a drilling program
to further define the reserves. Development of the reserve was required
to extend an existing ore operation. Visited the existing mine site,
interviewed appropriate personnel, and completed a reserve assessment
for development of four potential pit configurations.
- Reviewed resource data on select uranium properties in Utah and:
- Commented on current and future demand and pricing trends in the
uranium industry.
- Completed an estimate of mining costs.
- Provided an estimate of fair market value for the studied properties.
- Visited potential mining sites in Western Africa to evaluate
gold potential in the region. An initial report was prepared discussing
the properties and gold opportunities. Report was based on the site
visit, meetings with government officials, and information supplied
by client. As a follow-up study, a business plan was prepared for our
client.
