Examples of Boyd Projects for Producers Include:

• Completed a performance improvement and benchmarking study of an underground mining operation in New South Wales, Australia. Visited the mine and reviewed all aspects of the operation. Conducted benchmarking studies on the longwall and development units on selected shifts. Assessed operational efficiency, maintenance procedures and managerial performance.



• Completed a due diligence study of a major coal producer. During the course of our study, we interfaced with financial and legal representatives and developed a value for the company. Scope of work included:
  
  
  • Review of coal reserves and quality.
  • Evaluation of existing operations and mine plans.
  • Review of environmental liabilities.
  • Asset appraisal of plant and equipment.
  • Forecast of coal market conditions and price projections.
  
  
  
• Retained to assist in the sale of client’s coal holdings in the eastern US. Studied all aspects of the operation, prepared an independent report and offering memorandum, identified potential buyers, and established a controlled data room.
  
  
• Provided services to one of largest coal producers in China on thin seam longwall applications. Review included mining method, panel design, equipment selection, staffing, productivity projections, etc.



• Retained by a joint venture to assist in preparing a feasibility study of opencast mining on six properties within a designated joint venture area. Developed comprehensive analyses of multiple alternatives for each property addressing:
  
  
  • Available reserves, quality, and washability.
  • Selection of optimal mining methods and equipment.
  • Development of pit design criteria, road network layout, and facilities location.
  • Optimization of pit shell, orientation and sequencing.
  • Development of operating cost estimates for multiple alternatives.
  • Specification of optimal equipment at multiple production levels.
