Resource / Reserve Evaluation
Assessing and estimating mine reserves form the foundation for studies
such as mine design, mineability, or mining valuation. As foremost mining
consultants, John T. Boyd Company (BOYD) utilizes the latest geologic
and mine planning software for three-dimensional mine modeling and mine
design.

BOYD's reserve reports receive mining industry wide
acceptance and comply fully with both foreign and U.S. Securities and
Exchange Commission (SEC) filing requirements. We have completed over
2,000 reserve audits. Representatives of BOYD have appeared before SECs
technical staff to support our estimates. Coal reserve classifications
used in BOYD's mining reserve studies and reserve audits are directed
toward reliability of the deposit. These classifications assist in future
planning of exploration and mining.

Example Projects Include:
- Estimated surface and underground mineable coal
reserves for potential sale of properties. A reserve base of approximately
1 billion tons was investigated which encompassed operating and inactive
properties in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
- Completed a comprehensive multiple-seam, multiple-mine
reserve audit for a major producer in the Republic of South Africa as
part of an overall operational assessment. Highly variable coal qualities,
igneous intrusions, large volatilized zones, and multiple mining methods
were all key considerations in determining reserve estimates. Supplied
our client with a series of detailed maps and reserve tabulations.
- Completed an independent reserve audit of a large
US coal producer. The demonstrated reserve base of 2.1 billion tons
was investigated and encompassed operating and inactive properties in
Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Utah, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
- Performed an independent reserve audit of a large
US coal producer. The demonstrated reserve base of 1.9 billion tons
considered surface and underground reserves in Alabama, Colorado, Illinois,
Indiana, Kentucky, North Dakota, Texas, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia,
and Wyoming. BOYD staff prepared detailed reserve maps and tabulations.
